What's inside

Where the club stands

Newpound Boxing Gym coaches do not prescribe weight cutting to young boxers โ€” ever. Growing athletes need fuel, not restriction โ€” and the ones carrying extra weight need real food and daily movement, not starvation. That's the section below.

You will never find here: weight cutting for weigh-ins, deliberate dehydration, fasting, "fat burners" or supplement selling. If anyone tells a young boxer to make weight by sweating it off, skipping meals or restricting fluids, that's a safeguarding issue โ€” speak to the club.

Got a child carrying extra weight? Act now โ€” the right way

Don't wait, and don't put them on a diet. Extra body fat on a child is real โ€” it drives inflammation and sets up illness later. The fix starts today, and it's lifestyle, not maths:

Do that consistently and the excess fat comes off while they grow taller and stronger โ€” genuine fat loss for a growing body. What we deliberately leave out is the number-chasing: calorie targets and scales for children are the tools that backfire into eating disorders and rebound weight. The food and the movement do the work.

A child with a serious weight problem should also see a GP or registered dietitian โ€” take the app along, it's the plan they'll recognise.
